Lunar Vapors (True Field Of View)

The flourescent teal light
Of a crisp January low-satellite ice moon
Completely cleansed the polluted city blocks
Around me
As I walked
Within it’s Pine-Sol disinfecting purity.

Rinsing
Every soiled brick and dirty window
Washing all of the tall steeples
Scrubbing the blistered
Cracked asphalt
Dusting the corners and crevices
Of unswept steps and doorways
And littered alleys.

Nocturnal cloud
Sapphire transparent
Drenched my hair
Radiated the ossified skull
Worked it’s way through every thread
Of bundled clothing
Exfoliating the epidermis...

The dermis...

Chilled blue
Shined deeper
Into nerves
Blood
Muscle
Fat and tendon
Every vital instrument
Restored.

I rose like helium
And took my place
In the shoulder height orbit
Of the winter sky.

Aventurine

Like feldspar containing hematite
Or quartz with traces of mica

The way
That the belly
Of the full moon
Scrapes low
Across the dark city horizon
To be torn open
By telephone poles
Chimneys
And billboards

Exposing
Glimmering fragments
Shards
From the intestines
Within

Holiness
Shining upon
The Armageddon.

Elegba

He spoke in the language
Of the snake and the black crow
The scouring dog
The long green eucalyptus leaf
And the spilling water
Of the Rivière de l’Estère
Into the Gulf of Gonâve.

He was proud
Of the single red feather
That grew out of the bone
In the center of his skull-cap
While he danced in seamless
Hydrous movements
Watching for the tip of red
To flash into his line of eyesight
As the plume moved
Even slower
And with more grace
Than he.

He smiled
And the energy of Life
Glowed
From the porcelain
Of his small
Crooked teeth
Like a white fire
Set within black skin.

The flame was infectious
Engulfing all of those
Around him
Leaving white ash
To be trodden on
At daybreak
With the orchestra of roosters.
