Drag Queens On The Boardwalk

Such beautiful peacocks

By the beach

Strut in dayglo taffeta, chiffon, silk and polyester

With shimmering motifs, sequins

And accoutrement.

Glittering gowns and dresses

Falling around bare backs

And naked thighs

Exposing bronzed

Toned arms and torsos

With occassional tattoos.

You are all so very pretty

And you know it

As you walk amongst the “normalcy”

On the boardwalk.

You girls are fierce!

Mmmmmmm Hmmmmmmm.

Let me tell you!

You’re probably evil and unrelenting

In the clubs

But out here

You are taking it to a whole ‘nother level

Walking the boards loud and proud.

Your cattiness is perfectly clear

As people stare and talk amongst themselves.

And the show you put on

As I follow behind

Is full on sexy

And funny

Daring

And provocative

Even to those who don’t understand

And have no idea what to make of it.

I see some Latin blood in the mix

And you turn up the volume

Chicas calientes!

Showoffs!

Your glossy wigs

Almost pull it off

As well as your effeminite mannerisms.

You are for all intents and purposes

Women out here.

I mean besides the slightly overdone makeup

And underdone hormones...

Besides the sarcasm

That is a defense mechanism...

Besides the willingness to ham it up

At any given moment...

You might actually pass

For glamorous girls

Strolling down the crowded boardwalk

For a night out on the town.

I don’t think that is the point...

But I’m just sayin’.

But if you really want to know...

The DEAD give away is this...

You are determined to walk

This unforgiving boardwalk

In high heels and pumps

While any normal gal

Would immediately have none of that

And take off her shoes

And walk in bare feet

Dangling her shoes from her fingers

With not the slightest bit of style

That you girls exude.
