Tasbih Pusaka

I am still wearing

The beads that you gave me

Around my neck.

Tasbih Pusaka...

There is energy

In these glass and wood beads.

They are not still and lifeless.

You ask from faraway

“Did they break yet?”

When I tell you that I am still

Wearing them

And they have yet to break

You seem surprised.

You tell me that

You were kissing them

As they hung around my neck

The last time that we slept together

Before you left.

It must have been while

I was sleeping

Because I cannot recall

This detail.

But

I can imagine

With clarity

The image of your strong hands

Picking up the delicate beads

And pressing them

To your wide lips

Taking them into your soft mouth

Whetting the small glass spheres

Letting them fall back down

To rest on my sleeping skin.

A simple

Quiet

Act of appreciation.

These strands of modest

Wood and glass beads

Still hang about

My neck.

Tasbih Pusaka...

Sweet and beautiful

Like a morning

Waking up

Kissing you

Beads broken

Lying all about us

Upon the sheets.
