Pirateering

I have lived several lifetimes

In this single lifetime.

Some seem so long ago

And foreign to me

But I embrace them

Like old friends

Brothers.

For I am here today

In life’s exquisite garden

Laughing and playing.

I am still mischievious and naughty.

I am still dangerous and wreckless.

But I’ve lived several lifetimes

And with each one

Have grown.

I am living passionately

Gaining subtle wisdom

In the uncomplicated beauty of each day.

I am the killer that moves quietly

In the royal velvet of night.

I am the lover that cries openly

Upon your naked breast.

I am but the child pirate

Digging for treasure

In my mom’s

Most precious flower bed.
